Cellulite Lotions

Tissues containing fat, usually situated on the backs of the thighs, stomach and buttocks are called cellulites and are mainly found in women. However, men can suffer with cellulites as well and are often seen as patches lighter then the surrounding skin. Normally, with good circulation, a person will have smooth skin layers, but when there is fluid in the layers, the stored fats, and other chemical toxins do not get flushed out of the system and become trapped within the skin. These tissues harden and thicken, producing cellulites, bumpy lines in the skin often referred to as the ‘orange peel’ effect.

The appearance of the cellulites will depend upon each person’s genetics, their lifestyle and the weight of the individual, all of which are factors in cellulite formation. Having said that even active women can get cellulite and it can be found even in the muscles of fit individuals, including dancers and athletes because there are different types of cellulites so being overweight is only one reason for having the problem. The cellulites that cause the most problems are the hard or solid types because they attach themselves to the muscles and often affect more active persons. Soft cellulites, however, are much more obvious and may even appear to sag from the skin surface and whist they occur in larger, muscle areas, they are usually easily removed.

Unfortunately, it’s women who are most often the ones with cellulite problems and they can start anytime after they turn 14 years of age plus as they grow older, the affected areas become larger. Cellulites have been linked to the contraceptive pill or when a woman has given birth and sometimes it may even be triggered by an accident or injury.

Exercise and diet are still almost uniformly believed to be the best way to eradicate cellulites because exercise is particularly effective at improving the circulation and usually helps reduce the appearance of the cellulites. Whilst exercise is good, it works better when working in conjunction with a detoxifying diet which should include plenty of fruits and vegetables. Try to eat more wholegrain foods but avoid wherever possible the likes of coffee and soft fizzy drinks.

Although so far unproven, it is considered by some that spicy foods may also help contribute to the formation of cellulites. The build up of toxins in the body can also be avoided by not drinking alcohol or smoking. Whilst a low fat diet is always preferably for health, reducing the intake of fatty foods helps reduce the enlargement of the cellulites because fat is harder to digest and more difficult to remove from your body.

Proprietary cellulite creams are often successful in the treatment and prevention of cellulites but presently they cannot completely eradicate the tissues. By using alpha-hydroxyl acid cream, the cellulites are made to look as if they have disappeared by making the skin more elastic whereas all the cream has done is mask the cellulites. Water, whether drunk or in therapy form is good for the skin as it removes toxins and fats from the system, improving the circulation and digestion, effectively rendering the cellulites less visible.
