Getting Rid Of Cellulite

Cellulites are fat tissues found in certain areas of the body, mainly, but not exclusively, the thighs, abdominal area and buttocks in women. Although rarer, men can also suffer with cellulites which are normally seen as areas that appear to be a lighter shade than the rest of the skin. Normally, with good circulation, a person will have smooth skin layers, but when there is fluid in the layers, the stored fats, and other chemical toxins do not get flushed out of the system and become trapped within the skin. These tissues harden and thicken, producing cellulites, bumpy lines in the skin often referred to as the ‘orange peel’ effect.

How these cellulites will look and form depends on the individual’s genetic make-up, the type of life they lead and their weight. Because there are different types of cellulites, even active and fit individuals can suffer with them even if they are not overweight, including the likes of dancers and runners because the cellulites are found contained in the muscle itself. The cellulites that cause the most problems are the hard or solid types because they attach themselves to the muscles and often affect more active persons. The soft cellulites on the other hand are more easily identified because they are closer to the surface of the skin and considerably easier to remove.

Unfortunately, it’s women who are most often the ones with cellulite problems and they can start anytime after they turn 14 years of age plus as they grow older, the affected areas become larger. Cellulites have been linked to the contraceptive pill or when a woman has given birth and sometimes it may even be triggered by an accident or injury.

Improving the circulation with exercise, combined with a healthy diet, will improve the appearance of cellulites and is still thought to be the best way to improve your cellulites condition. Whilst exercise is good, it works better when working in conjunction with a detoxifying diet which should include plenty of fruits and vegetables. Whole grain foods are also greatly recommended but foods that should be avoided include regular favorites such as coffee and soft drinks.

Although so far unproven, it is considered by some that spicy foods may also help contribute to the formation of cellulites. However, the same cannot be said for smoking and alcohol which should be avoided as both help in the build-up of toxins in the body. Although cellulites are not necessarily formed by a high fat diet fat is difficult to flush out of the system and can contribute to the cellulites formation so a low-fat diet is preferable.

Although they cannot completely get rid of cellulites, cellulite creams are quite successful in treating and hiding cellulite. The creams work by making the skin more elastic and contain alpha-hydroxyl acid which doesn’t actually remove the cellulite but helps to hide it. Water, whether drunk or in therapy form is good for the skin as it removes toxins and fats from the system, improving the circulation and digestion, effectively rendering the cellulites less visible.
