Thigh Cellulite

The ‘orange peel’ effect seen on some people’s thighs and buttocks are fat cells beneath the skin and is known by the general term ‘cellulite’. Although additional fat is normal in women, this is not just a condition that is exclusive to overweight women and the cottage cheese look can affect slim women as well.

Just below the surface of the skin in the thighs and buttocks region, areas of fat collect and force themselves against the tissue creating a puckered look to the surface of the skin. The real cause of cellulite is unknown so is the reasons why some women are more prone to suffering with it than others but scientists believe that it could be due to the way the cells are structured beneath the skin.

What is certain though is that the older you become the greater the likelihood of cellulites forming as the elastin and collagen, that also stops wrinkles, becomes less effective. The condition is almost exclusive to women and has been attributed to hormonal changes that take place as a woman gets older as the fat in the thighs and buttocks of men is the same as fat found in other parts of their bodies.

Thigh Cellulite...

Often the cellulite goes unnoticed and it is only when a person’s muscles are compressed or the skin is pinched that it can be seen and felt but women should not feel badly about having cellulite as most women suffer with it to a greater or lesser degree. Although it is not know what causes cellulites, some factors seem to contribute to its build up including age, sex, extra fat carried and skin thickness all seem to aid the formation.

Currently there isn’t one single treatment that can rid a person of cellulites because the cause has remained elusive despite considerable research into the area. Massage has been found to help hide the indications of cellulite even though it cannot remove it; but is does reduce it’s visibility for a temporary period and is available from some beauty clinics.

Other treatments involve liposuction (to remove fats) and mesotheraphy (injection of drugs into cellulite) which is expensive and out of reach of the majority of women. These known remedies offer only temporary relief and are likewise not advisable as liposuction for example should only be used to remove deep fats and is not very effective in the removal of cellulite.

There isn’t one single therapy or treatment that can rid someone of cellulite and even cellulite burning creams provide dubious results; however the most recent creams seem to just hide the effects of cellulite for a temporary period. Many people believe that the only realistic way to reduce the amount of cellulite a person has is to follow a controlled diet plan and exercise regularly which will gradually burn off much of the body fat including that found in the tissues of the thighs and buttocks.

In addition, increasing the intake of water will help cleanse the system and flush out damaging toxins plus smokers should stop smoking or at least reduce it which will also be beneficial as smoking impacts negatively on the capillaries in the skin and reducing stress will help lower the level of damaging toxins too.
